Additional Information
The Menai Straits which separate the Isle of Anglesey from mainland Gwynedd are 25K long and between 400 and 1100 metres wide. The shores have rocks that span about 600 million years. Seals and porpoises use the Straits as a short cut from Caernarvon Bay to Liverpool Bay and the occasional otter can be seen too. The tides can create currents that can reach 8 knots in some places.
