The property forms part of a charming courtyard which includes a number of converted farm buildings - now separate holiday cottages. The manor house has been tastefully renovated and in keeping with the character of the property and now boasts a wedding license (details available on request). Spacious holiday accommodation is provided over two floors. The main house house 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and the annex has a further 3 bedroom and 2 bathrooms offering 8 bedrooms in all sleeping 18. (Comprising 4 double rooms - 2 of which are en-suite, 2 twin rooms and 2 * triple bedded rooms - 1 of which has bunk beds). There is a spacious drawing room with open fire, a separate large sitting room with digital TV. Dining room with can seat 18, large kitchen, cloak room and utility room.

Tros Yr Afon is tucked away just outside the beautiful town of Beaumaris, Anglesey’s best kept secret. At the end of a winding country lane on the way to Penmon point (Puffin Island and Penmon Priory) and close to the rocky shoreline lies this peacefully set cluster of charming holiday properties, consisting of a period manor house with a courtyard of additional properties. Set within 8 acres of gardens, trees and grounds and coupled with the gulf-stream enhanced climate it is the perfect spot all year round.

The stunning manor house has been renovated in keeping with the character of the property, and makes the ideal venue for larger groups or families. The surrounding properties, consisting of cottages and converted barns and stables, are perfect for a wide variety  of occasions, from a weekend away, to walking holidays, family parties, anniveraries to one of the newest features of Tros yr Afon - weddings. The manor house can now boast a wedding license and what better way to spend your wedding day, than relaxing with your friends and family ... 

Within walking distance (5 mins) of the properties is the Menai Strait and its rocky headlands, the breeding grounds for a variety of birds including the Puffin, Guillemot, Chough and Grebe. One of the best ways to spend a day is to take a stroll along the beach (depending on the tide) to the thriving resort of Beaumaris with its 13th-century Castle and Victorian Pier, where a cluster of cottages, quaint inns,restaurants and antique shops form the basis of the perfect old fashioned seaside resort.

Directions

FROM THE A55 (HEADING WEST) TOWARDS ANGLESEY, NORTH WALES

Exit the A55 at Junction 8A immediately over the Britannia Bridge. Turn Right the T-Junction at bottom of slip road signed A5 Menai Bridge and Beaumaris (A545)

After approx.1 mile take 3rd exit at roundabout along Mona Road (Ffordd Mona) Signed Beaumaris (A545).

After approx 1/3 mile take 1st exit at roundabout signed Beaumaris A545.

Drive through Menai Bridge and carry on along this road, after approx 4 miles drive straight through the town of Beaumaris, past the castle on your left and follow the road for a further 1.5 miles.

Turn right (signposted Penmon) at the crossroads and continue down for ½ mile and Tros yr Afon is on your left – look out for Large Blue Lighthouse sign at the entrance.

Did you know?

Ty Mawr - simply means Large house or Grand House and is a fitting name for this property. This house was built in 1834 (extended in 1921) with stunning sea views across the Menai Strait. The son of the gentlemen who had it built travelled to India in the 1850s and brought back a number of small Rhodedendron bushes which were subsequently planted in the garden. These now magnificent fully grown plants that provide such a wonderful display of colour in the front garden.
